4k uhd rip quality

i just ripped 4k the hunger games lionsgate movie but it seems 60 % of movie is grainy. is it normal?

it rips it exactly how it is on the disc
film grain is normal for a lot of movies but can be made much worse by some tvs processing effects turn them all off or go into a movie/film mode or game they have the least processing.

This was shot on good old fashioned 35mm film…
How sensitive are you to film grain? According to the above linked review, the 4K release is an upscale from the 2K digital intermediate, which means you get to see everything in as good of detail as possible (until the inevitable rescan of the negatives one day).

MakeMKV isn't changing anything, just copying the bits off the disc. Your TV or player might be trying to do things… personally, I turn all that stuff off; it only makes things worse in my eyes.

i have a pc not tv with i9 10900k cpu gtx 1650 gpu but monitor is 1080p fhd only so i ripped it and played it. there is no video enhancement possible its all default setting

I believe that playing 4k HDR/DV video at 1080p SDR requires tone mapping and the quality of the tone mapper will affect the HD picture.
