Jaws 4K UHD with Pioneer BDR-XD07UHD

Post by kbf100 »

Hello

Newcomer to this forum... I am attempting to rip one of my 4K Ultra HD discs (Jaws) using MakeMKV and I am receiving errors when opening the disc with MakeMKV. I attached the log. Is this drive (Pioneer BDR-XD07UHD) incompatible for ripping 4K UHD with this encryption? If so, I will want to return the drive.
THANK YOU!
Brian

Do I need to email Mike the .tgz file?

Yes, your drive is not "UHD-Friendly", it is "UHD Official". Pioneer drives do not currently have available a "rip-friendly" firmware.

Oh that's not good! Do you think it will be possible in the future?
Thanks for your help!

The software's author thinks it may be. In fact, the main screen (prior to opening a disk) have "LibreDrive status", which says he hopes to support it at some time in the future. Those of us who have variations on that drive have been waiting over a year since we submitted firmware samples.

The good news is that Pioneer drives seem to be better at WRITING disks than the UHD-Friendly drives.

Thanks folks for the info. I *think* the firmware is 1.03 ? It says 1.03 in that bitmap I attached, but I would have to check. How do you verify firmware version?
Thanks again!
