Wrong language when converting

Post by Smiggy »

Hello,

I backed up my Rambo 2 (4K) to an mkv file. When I played it on my UHD player, the language was Dutch.

When I ran it on my computer, the default language is Dutch.

Is there a way of converting the file to mkv with the preferred language?

On the Languages tab in MakeMKV's Preferences, do you have a preferred language set?

Setting preferred to "eng" would default to NOT selecting any language other than English.

When you look at the languages selected (expand the title to show what's available and selected), is Dutch listed before English? Many players will play the FIRST track found for audio and subtitles, unless you've told the player to prefer a different on. MakeMKV will copy the tracks in the order found, unless you have an advanced selection rule.

I purchase a fair amount of European Blu-ray discs because the titles aren't (yet) available in the US. Just spin down the item in the list you want to use and turn off the languages (including subtitles) you don't want. Works like a charm for me.

How do you do that?

Changing names with Expert mode enabled will give you hints on using expert mode to select/unselect tracks within a title.
