Can iPad Pros handle 4k MKVs?

I was curious if 4k MKVs made from UHD discs can be played back on an iPad Pro? I was thinking of picking up one of the new ones as it has the HDR screens and all the M1 goodness. But I was wondering if they'd be capable of playing back my 4k MKVs? These obviously have a mix of of audio formats depending on the disc, but I'd assume a lot of lossless and Atmos on there. If the answer is yes, what are you using to actually play them back? On the TV I access Plex through my Nvidia Shield.

I have a 2018 11" iPad Pro. It'll play 4K rips from my Plex server (which is a Raspberry Pi 4). It does direct play. I convert the audio to flac when I rip, since this works better in my home theater.

I bet Infuse would work (https://firecore.com/infuse), buy why bother if you already have Plex.

I haven't tested it on an iPad, but I think 8Player Pro (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/8player-pro/id375860275) would work too.
