question about quality makemkv

Post by Toby2k »

Hi,

i created the movie Indiana Jones 4K once with makemkv and once with dvdfab. But I got different data about the codec. I see dolbyvision on makemkv, but not on dvdfab. So, doesn't makemkv seem to be doing better? or is it the same?

dvdfab doesn't support ripping of DV into mkvs as far as I know, so that's the difference

As I have seen MakeMKV gives a lossless rip ;without any conversions. This is the difference. It appears as DVDFab is altering some of the data as it is doing it's thing. I personally prefer MakeMKV over DVDFab and even AnyDVD (currently) with the results that I have been able to get. (AnyDVD I only used it to make images of the ISOs. I need now to create a movie that is more compatible with Plex and other services and able to be ripped easily into other formats as needed.
