The Elephant Man Italian 4Kult Edition

Post by mizu_ger »

Has anyone had success ripping the Italian 4Kult edition of The Elephant Man? I've submitted the dump twice over the past couple of months, but it's still not supported. Is there something unusual about this disk?

Bump

Anyone know if there is a problem with thisdisk? It's still not drecrypting. I'm downloading the latest HK fine, so that's not the problem. Is this disk never going to be supported.

BTW, is there a list of disks that cannot be decrypted? even after the dump files have been analysed?

Do you know what version of AACS that disc has? There's one variant of Zombieland 4k that MakeMKV won't yet decrypt: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20549&start=60#p94204

I have no idea if this disc is in the same boat as that one variant of Zombieland.

Thanks for pointing me to that thread.

You'd be able to tell from the filename of the AACS dump file MakeMKV creates when it can't decrypt a movie. I also think it'll say what the protection scheme is in the 'source' box, on the left after MakeMKV acknowledges the disc but before you start it doing something.

Thanks.

The dump filename says v72

Well, I don't think it is in the same boat as Zombieland. Perhaps it has just gotten lost in the shuffle. I presume you're using the latest version of MakeMKV? Versions of MakeMKV prior to 1.12 had some bugs in this space: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=16959

And you're emailing the dump to svq@makemkv.com? viewtopic.php?f=12&t=16883

Yeah, I'm on the latest version and I've sent the dump file to that address a few times. I've sent in files for other disks over the same period and those have been added.

Not sure what the problem is with this particular one.

Bump again.

Genuinely intrigued about this now. I've submitted the dump 3 times and it's not supported. Is there something about this disk's encryption that can't be defeated? (Is there a way to find this out?) I've tried one of the competitors and it's not working there either.

The database is updating for me fine, so that's not the problem: I've submitted other dumps and those disks are supported now.

Product: BC-12D2HT

Firmware version: 3.00
This is old firmware version, the latest available is 3.11 and it's patched, maybe it's worth flashig and trying again?

Firmwares are available here viewtopic.php?f=19&t=19113

since 1.15.1 you can use MakeMKV tools to flash, using this command in Powershell with administration privileges

Code: Select all

./makemkvcon64.exe f --all-yes -d “your drive letter here Example: D:" rawflash -i “path to your firmware Example: C:\Users\Downloads/mk-firmware-pack-20200720/MK/ASUS/BC-12D2HT/ASUS-BC-12D2HT-3.11-WM00300-211902271319.bin"
I did it few days ago with my BW-16D1HT drive and it works like a charm.

Thanks for that. I may give it a try, but I don't think that's the problem. I tried 2 other windows rippers (the monkey and the fox) and neither of those worked. The former reported that it automatically sent a logfile and that the disk would be ready to decrypt in 1-2 days. That was a month ago and it still can't decrypt it!

There is something unusual about this particular disk. I'd love to know what the problem is. Is the key hard to decypher? I'm not sure. Is there anyway to find out what the problem is? Is this the only disk that can't be decrypted or are there others? So many questions :D
