All 4 of the recent Daniel Craig James Bond Films (Casino Royale, Spectre, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall) cannot be opened. I've emailed in the dump file for all 4.

I could open and copy the 4k versions, but Quantum of Solace doesn't "work"; that is to say, the chapter button does not work on my Oppo 203

You may have ripped a playlist which contains no chapters. You should pop the disc back in and make sure. My US disc definitely has a playlist with chapters, I was watching it earlier tonight.

I'm having the same issue with the Skyfall UHD Blu-ray I just bought (The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted.)

@rifer11, how did you manage to open and rip the 4K version?

1. I was able to rip Skyfall, Spectre and Casino Royale, but Quantum of Solace 4K Ultra HD disc failed. I emailed the dump file as well for that one disc.

2. I am not seeing the log show that it is downloading the hash file though the option is activated in preferences. I have manually downloaded it but still same result. And yes I have the most recent updated version of makeMKV.

Do you know what version of Makemkv you used to rip Spectre? Having trouble reading my Spectre 4k UHD disc. Even tried exchanging for another copy but nothing. Hopefully my Skyfall copy doesn't have the same issue whenever I get that in.

Remember folks, there can be multiple keys for the same film, across regions generally but even within regions. If your disc can’t be decrypted, you should submit the dump.

If you’re having read errors, cleaning the disc is the first step.

preserve - umm...yeah...of course... ... my discs are brand new and show no visible issues. I still always attempt cleaning as the first step as well as restarting the software, the drive, and reinserting it. Neither options were successful. And I had the latest keys and if you saw my post I submitted the dump in the event there was an issue or different key needed.

I wasn't addressing you specifically. Was replying partly to Randude14 who simply said they were having "trouble reading" without being clear on the exact issue / error message, and partly to the thread at large.

This comes up with every new release, and there's still a lot of people learning, which is why I mention it. Even discs that look perfectly clean still have to be cleaned. People don't realize that they need to submit their dumps. People are surprised when they follow these basic first steps and then it works. Yes, there can absolutely still be other issues, but simply thinking you have a bad disc, or that MakeMKV isn't doing its job, may lead you nowhere.

Gotcha. Sounds good. Just takes a few minutes to read and research to know before posting basic questions. I feel the frustration.

I purchased Skyfall & Spectre in UHD. My version of Skyfall has no volume key, submitted the dump few days ago. Was able to backup successfully without decryption. From what I read a hashed key could be made available within few days to a week.

UPDATE: automagically after few days was able to rip the disc, notice date on private data updated to Mar 4. Thank you

Has anyone had any luck with Quantum of Solace 4K? I sent in the dump file, twice. The first time was on 3-March. I've tried every few days, to see if there's been an update, but I just keep getting the same error for the volume key unknown.

Your log segment does not indicate that it tried to download the hash key table.

Give Fixing Volume Key is Unknown and see if that helps.

Thank you, but nothing in that post should be necessary as it has worked before and I've seen the downloading message before. But I did go through that post and verify that everything seems fine. I then uninstalled and reinstalled MakeMKV, and then tried again. This time I got the downloading message and same result of volume key unknown. I was really just wondering if anyone got that one to work on 4K, as it seems to have been out there a while, and I'm not the first one to send in their dump file. I also did Casino Royale, Skyfall, and Spectre at the same time, and they all worked. I've never seen one take this long to be resolved before.

I ran that disk through 1.15.4 a couple weeks ago without issue. Checked again just now & it's still reading it.
