Hash Check Errors with Apocalypse Now The Final Cut

I'm getting the above error on the 4K version of Apocalypse Now The Final Cut. I can rip the original and Redux versions in 4K just fine and rip the HD version of The Final Cut as well. My drive is brand new and works great, so I don't think it's failing.

Any advice?

Clean the disk, try new disk ,clean the laser ,get new drive in that order.

I have had many new drives brand new be defective that is a bd 100 the hardest disks to read

I've cleaned the disc and am trying it again. I've done other 4K rips after trying this one and they worked perfectly.

It still doesn’t work. Is the other 4K disc in this set also a bd100? Because it can be read just fine.

Look like there are 2 bd 100s not sure what's what but if the disk is above 66 GB in makeMkvs disk info it is a triple layer bd 100

Yep. The second disk is over 66 GB and is a triple layer. It can be read just fine. I have both rips from it in front of me.

Just in case anyone runs into a problem like this, plug your drive into your computer directly and not into your fancy 5K monitor. When I switch the cable directly to the back of my Mac mini all of the errors went away. Oops.

Hey everyone, waking this thread up from the dead. I recently bought this UHD disk and cannot get it to rip. Tried 3 different drives that I have used to rip pretty much everything for the past 8 years. The disk size is about 88GB, so thinking it is BD100, but I was able to rip Zack Snyders Justice League (98GB - main movie) with the same hardware as I have now. Any tips would be appreciated.

Did you try cleaning the disc?

Yes, I have tried.

I actually have the Final Cut and Original edition discs. Both fail to backup around the 6-8gb mark with read error.

Usual steps are clean disc
Replace discs
Clean laser
Replace drive with a pioneer see below for that

Interesting, I've had decent luck with my 3 LG drives, ripped probably around 100 UHDs with a couple issues but not many. Seems like the Pioneer is the way to go? So if I bought one from Amazon, you can provide a flash for it, even if it comes with the latest firmware?

Thanks!

Any Pioneer whose firmware is dated Dec 2022 or newer is still useless for UHD, so you'd need to buy a drive from one of the sellers who advertise in this forum.

Tell us your country of residence and what kind of Pioneer drive you would like to buy. 5,25" or slim.

I’m in the US, looking at a full size 5.25 drive.

My question is, if I buy a drive from a 3rd party seller with a new firmware, can the drive still be flashed via the flashing services offered by a few members here, or can only older firmware drives be flashed?
