Dredd Ghost in the Shell stutter

I realize this might be the wrong site for this request, but so many of you are on the same page with me in our backup quest--shared experiences.
I use Plex server, updated, with Kodi and dsplayer/madvr for hdr. Dredd and Ghost in the Shell are the only two uhd movies I have back'd up that are not watchable, stuttering.
I have researched this topic and have yet to find anything helpful. I have yet to discover what these two movies have in common that the other movies do not.
Ideas and/or suggestions are welcome.
oh yeah, I am running the plex server on the same machine as kodi, win10. If others are not having an issue with these movies, it would helpful to know the setup. I am leaning toward shield, but I am waiting/hoping they upgrade the architecture. I know x1 is good enough, but I wait for now.

no clue? oh well, I knew this was not the optimum place, but I cannot be the only person with dredd and ghost in the shell on win10 and dsplayer, and gtx1080.

I don't have the same set up as you, or Dredd UHD, but my Ghost in the Shell rip to MKV works fine from a basic CFS network share (no Plex, no transcoding) through VLC, Kodi on a Nvidia Shield and OSMC on a Vero 4K.
My rip is just that, not transcoded to X265 and not a backup.

what are the specs of the computer you are playing back on?

Thank you for the responses; it helps. the odd thing about this irritation, e.g. Ghost in the shell, is that it starts off not stuttering and then about 2min in it starts. Dredd starts immediately. both are unwatchable.
the specs:
asus maximus ix rog
i7-7700k 4.2
16 GB 2133
ssd 850 pro w/win10 pro
msi duke gtx1080
lg wh16ns40
I have 'backed up' other hdr movies and do not have this problem, and as I said, mystified, I have yet to discern how these two movies are different from the other hdr movies that do not stutter. hence, I do not know how to troubleshoot when the baseline works for similar files. it is my impression this problem not symptomatic of a bad disc or bad print, so to speak.
my kneejerk is that it is the player, dsplayer, but why? these files do not stutter with vlc or when run from plex media server (same machine); I lose hdr, but they do not stutter. I do not get it.

I have both of those movies in 4k. I just installed my LG BU50N today and will start with Dredd and Ghost on my way to ripping the 87 movies and series I have. Only things I have to do are verify the movies I already ripped and move them to my 64TB media server to clear out space for additional ripping on my local drive. My system is similar to yours except the i7-4770k but I have everything hard-wired and usually pass data through my Oppo 203 to my Denon X7200WA and onto my TV. I'll edit this post when I'm done with Dredd.
Edit... Finished processing Dredd. There appears to be no problems with playback for the first 15 minutes, which is all I watched. HDR10 and Dolby Atmos come in fine. I did notice huge peaks in data transfer with several peaks above 105 Mb/s and a high of 112.8 Mb/s. On the PC side, CPU usage is a non-issue and disk usage is below 10% ( WD 7200 RPM 1TB Scorpio Black. ) The only thing being stressed to any degree is the Ethernet connection.
I'll do Ghost as soon as I transfer stuff to my media server.

yeah your pc should have no problem with 4k files it has h265 decoding it probably is the player since it works in vlc try some players with madvr that can pass through hdr

hence the irritation. it should work and does work for all but 2 movies; I am missing something different with these 2. if I figure it out, I will pass it on.
thanks for the contributions, and good luck, jevans64, with your hdr library. I appreciate your confirmation.

Ghost in the Shell worked out fine. Someone posted problems with Venom, so I will do that one this weekend. I finished Westworld season 1 and 2. I want to do the Harry Potter films if I have time, then the rest in alphabetical order. I'll still have plenty of space on the server but Asustor added the option for additional expansion bays... up to an additional 120 TB.

Have you checked the Plex activity screen on another machine while watching the files and made sure its not trying to transcode something? That is the only time I've experienced anything similar. I wish Plex was a little more intuitive/transparent about when it is transcoding something on the screen you are watching it on.

I have not tried that troubleshooting. my focus has been more interested in what is the difference with these two movies versus the other hdr movies I have. it is also my impression my machine could handle the transcoding, but I am guessing.
again, I use kodi, plexaddon, dsplayer with madvr and it works wonderfully for all but two of my movies. I see no difference, so I am close to purchasing one of them again just to make sure this is not the disc.
I will give your suggestion a go, Thank you.

I spoke with nvidia about whatever they could reveal regarding the alleged shield2, as mentioned I had put it off. I knew they would not reveal much, but they did say, paraphrased, do not believe the rumors. therefore, I have the shield and guess what, no more stuttering with the two offending movies.
I do not know why only 2 movies of my hdr library would stutter with dsplayer, but this case is closed.
the shield is great streaming plex.
thanks for the help.
