Markswift says that the TV does not handle this bt2020 flag during signal processing, maybe some TVs handle it differently?

The zidoo guys (mirrors and mark) often say things without actually testing them. I don't put too much attention to what they think or say.
Can you pm me the RPUs as well? Thank you!
done.

Hey @RESET_9999,

Using your script, is it possible to output a profile 8 DV MKV using 2 imputs??

Input #1 is a MKV with HDR already created from the UHD disc rip.
Inut #2 is the UHD disc ripped to folder.

I see you can convert the UHD disc to DV profile 8 MKV but I would prefer to add DV to my existing MKV file as I have already re-encoded it to make it a bit smaller and burnt in my subtitles.
Cheers :D

No, but you can use (2-2) to extract the rpu from the original dual track m2ts and then use (1-1) to inject it into your encode (will be converted to P8).
If your encode is cropped, the rpu will be cropped.

Cool, thanks. I'll give that a go...

So does anyone know what DV profiles the TCL C835 Google TV can play??

I have tried a DV profile 7 MKV created using MakeMKV and a DV profile 8 MKV using the script from @RESET_9999. I tried both MKV's in the TV's internal player, also in Kodi installed on the TV and also my HTPC running LibreELEC (which I already knew wouldn't work).

All playing options I tried show both MKV files as HDR10.

Any ideas?
Cheers :D

Did you try the TS/M2TS container?

Not yet but I will. Are there any issues affecting playback with either container? Which is the preferred container?

Oh yeah, I am streaming the files from my NAS if that makes any difference.

I dont know if you guys heard but @DMDreview did a great video showing that some Android boxes are actually doing fake TV-LED rgb tunneling (the player still does the rpu processing).
It also explains why many devices have different L1/L2 responses. Happy to confirm that the X700 and x800m2 don't have this problem.

The video is very technical so I made a quick example easy to understand:

So after a bit of testing, the TS seems to work best on the TCL 8-series TV’s player. DV works good with profile 8. With Kodi on the TV, only MP4’s show DV. I’ll stick with the TS as the audio is better.

My current (8 year old receiver) only has ARC so I’m only getting DD+ instead of ATMOS but only for DV movies. Everything else I watch through my HTPC so I can get ATMOS and DTS:X audio. The TV does have EARC so I’ll have to look at upgrading my receiver sooner rather than later then I can have DV and HD audio.

Did you try Profile 7 fel? I read the TCL has the same chip as the oppo players.

I did try profile 7 TS. It did work but was a bit glitchy. Not sure if was MEL or FEL. I was using Top Gun Maverick as my test movie.

Hey @RESET_9999,

How to extract the RPU when the movie contains multiple m2ts files? Using 2-2 do I have to do each m2ts file separately? Is there an option to add multiple m2ts's at once or merge them into one file for processing? I couldn't find one.
Cheers :D
