Looking for the correct for playlist for the US retail version. There are two (10.mpls & 11.mpls) on the disc and I can't find any difference. When remux'ed, they even have identical sizes.

Attempted to use MediaInfo, but for some reason it can't read the playlist.

I'm actually in the process of ripping mine and see the same two playlists. My guess is maybe a different title card (different language)? Can you check and see if the title card is different on either one of them?

I just ripped both. Took a quick look and can't seem to spot a difference yet either. I thought the "a film by Peter Parker" may have been in a different language, but they are both in English. Anyone else have any thought?

Check if one has Japanese audio as an option in MakeMKV and one doesn't.

Yeah, I didn't see any difference between audio and subtitle options (I'm not there to check now). I'm familiar with what you speak of where one has several Japanese subtitles, but this doesn't appear to be that scenario.

Did anyone ever figure this out? In the same pickle.

I found only 00010.mpls to have a reasonable amount of chapters, 00020.mpls has way too many, 00001.m2ts none. Check if you find something similar in your local version as well.

This happens with most movies I try. There are always multiple playlists. Just pick the one that's the largest size and has chapters. If there are multiple playlists at the same size with the same number of chapters, pick the first one on the list. Works out fine.

More than year late to this party but I found that viewing the files in Kodi (libreelec) on my pi shows more information. Spiderman Homecoming has five 56Gb files. I downloaded three. One of them showed up as the movie with 4k designator. The other two specified Dolby, 5.1/7.1, HDR, etc etc.

I think it matters. Opening the HDR version causes my tv to pop up its HDR bubble and the just 4k version does not.

Just looking at UK version of this now... and obviously the only reason we are all here is because this is a bit out of the ordinary! We know to normally pick the large movie file with chapters.

But this one has FIVE identical 56.5GB main movie playlists.

One has no chapters so forget about
Two have 83 chapters for some reason??
Two have 16 chapters... which sounds right - tracks 00010.mpls and 00011.mpls
They both identical duration with one segment count.
No idea... so will just pick 10.mpls

What's the consensus here, 00010.mpls?

The segment map is the same on all four of your examples… therefore, they're all the same. The only difference is (probably) what languages are surfaced to you and how many chapters there are. But since they're the same segment map, they're the same audio and video.

Probably 16 chapters is more useful than 83. Pick which ever one has the language(s) you want and rip.
