Stop Making Sense A24 Films Reissue

Post by DavidW » Tue Sep 09, 2025 6:49 pm

Hi All,

I have a few dozen concert films that I have ripped using MakeMKV that I load onto my Synology NAS for playback. I waited a while for Stop Making Sense UHD to drop in price (it didn’t) and I pulled the trigger a few weeks ago and bought the disc and a UHD drive to rip it.

Now that I have the contents ripped, I'm having a hard time matching them up to the those identified in the book. I don’t have the software to play the UHD discs directly, but have mapped out the tracks a variety ways to match them up:
File Size Sort: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11SlgaG ... share_link
Duration Sort: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dCHitd ... share_link
Disc Contents (book): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l6EsK1 ... share_link

Any guidance on which track is which. Any other advice I can pursue to, pardon the expression, start making sense of this rip?

Thanks,

David

As a follow up, what sw is available that can read 4K UHD discs? If I can “play” the film, I may be able to figure out the contents. I tried CyberLink’s PowerDVD (Windows) and sMacgo Mac Blu-ray Player Pro (Mac) among others, but can’t get it to play.

I always make a decrypted backup of a disc first and then create .mkv files from the backup. If I'm unsure what something is, I play the relevant .m2ts file from the backup with my player of choice. (I like MPV but VLC works as well.)

On the first screen of MakeMKV the icon of the yellow folder with the green arrow will start the disc backup process.

I also find DVDCompare.net to be helpful if the disc in question is in their database.
