UHD drive

Post by Kophbk » Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:01 pm

Hi I’ve got a new Blu-ray drive and in MKV I’m getting a message saying

It is a Samsung Blu-ray SE-506

LIBREDrive information
Status Possible not yet enabled
Drive platform MT1939
Hardware support Yes
Firmware support no
Firmware type Original unpatched
Firmware version 01.07
DVD all regions possible not yet enabled
BD raw possible not yet enabled
BD raw metadata read Possible not yet enabled
Unrestricted read speed possible not yet enabled

Does this mean it could be flashed for UHD playing/ripping?

Needs to be MT1959 for UHD.

2 different things... LibreDrive only = UHD on capable HW. You should be able to load a patched (LG) FW which enables LibreDrive, but I could only guess which one. There are some benefits (see my sig), but the HW predates UHD (unless this is one of those odd exceptions).

Maybe Marty, or Billy could suggest a FW?
