Question about Decryption and dump files with different drives

Post by tresnugget » Thu May 25, 2023 3:36 pm

I have an LG drive and a Pioneer drive. When ripping my collection I've found that some discs could decrypt in the LG drive but not the Pioneer. I'd submit the dump and sometime between a few minutes and a few hours (amazing) the Pioneer drive would generally start working with those discs.

I assumed that maybe the different brands had different dumps but now that I've tried ripping new discs like Shazam 2 and Creed 3 I've noticed the dump files are the same, at least in file name. I didn't do a hash check or even compare file sizes now that I think about it (it overwrote the dumps anyways) but I was just curious on how it all works.

That should work for UHD are these drives on the same PC so they have access to the same keys

Yes, both connected to the same PC. It's really weird. The LG (bp50nb40 with bp60nb10 firmware) will decrypt no problem but every now and then I come across a disc that won't finish without errors. I've tried everything recommended here with limited success. The pioneer will rip those no problem but will not decrypt some times and it looks identical to when it's a new disc. I submit the dump and usually it starts working shortly after but I've noticed it never says it's downloading new keys.
