Alita: Battle Angel 4K Correct Playlist?

Post by sharpie00 » Tue Jul 23, 2019 8:38 pm

Hey guys,

Just got the retail version of Alita: Battle Angel 4K.

Is it safe to assume the correct playlist is 00800.mpls?

Thanks!

I just went ahead and ripped 800 and it appears to be correct. This is for the US UHD 4K disc from Amazon (came with 3D and Blu Ray). I have ripped both the 4K and BR and both seem to be 800.

Good Luck!

I've tried to rip this 800 and numerous other playlists and I keep getting corrupt data and attempts at workarounds. The disc is perfectly clean though. Anyone else having this problem at all?

No problems here at all. But as others might suggest, even though a disc looks perfectly clean, it’s worth cleaning and trying again. That’s solved my issue in the past.

But I’ve also had two cases - one of them was “The Phantom Thread” - where I had what looked to be a clean disc and wouldn’t copy, then I cleaned it and it still wouldn’t copy, and finally I just turned it in for a new disc and it copied just fine. (With both the original disc and it’s replacement, however, they played just fine in my UHD player... MakeMKV, though, only liked the second replacement disc.)

UHD blu-rays can be really finicky. 9 times out of 10, MakeMKV reads them just fine. But you’ll get the odd one that’s just a pain in the ass.

Yes. I chose 00800.MPLS. It was at the top of the list and I played all segments from Segment map: 687,688,674,689 (those are m2ts files) to verify. Worked perfectly.

So I recently bought Alita: Battle Angel from Amazon and for some reason the disc is not UHD. It has both the bluray and the 3D disk, but makemkv isn't showing a 4K playlist, just 1080p. This disk is brand new, just took the shrink wrap off and it says "4K UltraHD" at the top...

Did I somehow get a non UHD disk in a UHD box?

Normally you'll have two separate disks - one UHD, the other HD (regular Bluray). This title is supposed to have 3 disks in the package, according to Amazon. Only one of them is UHD, though.

What? You didn't IMMEDIATELY pull out the special code for downloading the DRM-infected version that tracks where you watched their movie?!? What kind of consumer are you?!?

Supposedly, it's legal to sell off those access codes... Redbox has been doing it for some time.

How did you get the light descriptions to show up in parens next to the titles? Very cool.

If you're not getting that it is probably a Java version problem. The same thing happened to me and others. See Re: Error with JRE on bluRay Eighth grade to fix it.
