I bought mine from HMV in the UK on the release date 17 July and it ripped straight away which I hadn’t expected.

Was trying to rip this last night and ran into issues. The strange thing is disc 1 ripped fine in makemkv but discs 2 - 4 were a no go. I was able to rip disc 2 and 3 in DVDFab but disc 4 is also a no go. I haven't had that happen on anything else in 800+ rips. Weird.

EDIT: Just tried again and the key has been added. Excellent!

Mine appear to be supported. Ripping to ISO now so I can slice and dice them into MKV's later.

i'm trying to rip the german UHD version even with those errors it does seems to be working

Which files should be ripped for the main episodes because I see a few similar files?

For what it's worth, my discs seem to be going just fine (ENG, Amazon). I did notice that there are 80x and 85x playlists on the disc, I've been pulling down the 80x, but both sets seem identical in size?

Im on ripping the disc's and have noticed their are multiple options 3x episode 1 and 3x episode 2 all look the same to me, ( it's the same on the disk 2 as well )
, i have rip all 6 options but from what i can tell their isn't any difference

any one know why theirs so many option ?
is there any difference ?

I have a odd problem with disk # 3 only which contain ep. 5, 6 and 7.

Disk # 1, # 2 and # 4 ripped successfully. Since disk # 3 was problematic, I ask for a replacement and I have the same issue with the replacement. Both are brand new, sealed bought on Amazon.ca.

Even weird, I could rip ep. 5 + 7 with the first set. Couldn't rip episode 6. With the replacement, I could only rip ep. 5 only, 6 + 7 fail. What I can't explain is that MakeMKV don't see the disk in certain case. It just stop ripping poping a fail message and returning to the UI, the disk tray look empty???

I'm using MakeMKV 1.17.7 (last actual version).

What you'll find is that one of them has no chapter information; one of them has a combination of English and Japanese audio; and the other has a combination of English, Spanish, German, Italian, Czech, and French.

The one without chapter information will be a straight conversion of the M2TS file. Unless you want all the audio tracks in a single file, you want to delete/not rip that one. In the GUI, you can identify such files as having a source file name ending in .m2ts (instead of .mpls).

The others, you can differentiate by expanding the title in the GUI (there's a little arrow pointing to the right, just to the left of the checkbox adjacent to the text "Title") and looking at the audio tracks. Pick one, based upon your language desires, and away you go. (Just be consistent about which one you pick, to make sure you rip the different episodes rather than the same episode two or three times.)

Note that this advice is specific to the Last of Us; other discs do have similar structures and results, but the specifics of which languages will vary.

(Still waiting for my fourth disk to go through the process to be rippable - hopefully soon. But the above is based upon my experience from the first three disks.)
