Decoding Track Information

#1 Post by vjunkie » Sat Aug 27, 2022 11:33 pm

Hey guys,

I am new to ripping UHD discs, and would like to label them correctly for output. Can someone please help me decode this specific track?
It looks like it's a DV track with HDR10,

Being new to UHD, what does this track mean ( dvhe.07.06 BL+FEL+RPU) ?

Thank you for your patience as I learn.

That means it is a Dolby Vision [Profile 7] (dvhe.07.06) with an HDR10 Base Layer (BL), a full enhancement layer (FEL) and a reference picture unit (RPU).

There are several different types of Dolby Vision profiles, but all you will find on discs is Profile 7. The rest are for streaming purposes, I believe.

On discs you will always have an HDR10 base layer, and you can either have a full enhancement layer (FEL) or a minimal enhancement layer (MEL). There will always be an RPU.
