Rip Atmos from 4K to 1080P

#1 Post by TonyHY » Thu Jun 24, 2021 2:00 am

Hello,

I would like to rip the ATMOS track from a 4K disc to the 1080P version of my movie because I don’t have a 4K projector but want to listen to the ATMOS content. Is there a guide on how to do this? I want to do a 1:1 lossless rip. Thanks for the help.

This probably isn't the best forum to get your particular question answered… however, assuming you've ripped the 4k disc into a .mkv file, the MKVToolNix (https://mkvtoolnix.download) tools can allow you to extract the audio and merge it into a different .mkv file.

Out of curiosity, what movie are you attempting this with?

+1 for mkvtoolnix. I'd be tempted to run the MKV through Handbrake (so you can be sure the video matches the original), then use mkvtoolnix to copy the video stream from the new MKV into the old MKV, leaving everything else intact.
