LOTR:TTT Failed to open disc / The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted

#1 Post by Daxelinho » Wed Dec 16, 2020 9:34 pm

Hi,

today the newly released "Lord of the Rings" Extended 4K bluray , German release, arrived and I promptly started to rip them.

"Fellowship of the Ring" worked like a charm. But with the first disc of "The Two Towers" the problems began.

The disc information for TTT was correctly displayed. But it couldn't be loaded. MakeMKV put out the following log:

Can I do anything about this issue? I've stumbled across a similar error with Zombieland which couldn't be resolved by the team (or rather, it was out of the team's hands).

UHD FAQ

Refer to section Hashed Keys > MakeMKV says that "the volume key is unknown for this disc"?

Thanks, I just sent them. At least it seems like an issue that can easily be dealt with. :D

To be sure because it is not working yet: The file in question is named

"MKB20_v76_The_Lord_of_the_Rings-_The_Two_Towers_(EXT_)_PT_1_2F1F.tgz."

This is the right file, is it? I've mailed this to svq@makemkv.com

Don't want to stress anyone, just want to make sure I've done everything correctly because it's my first time encountering this error.

Yep, you've done it right. That's the correct file and the correct email address.

Thanks, then I just have to wait. I guess there are lots of other things much more important than MakeMKV right now over the holidays. In the end the team does their best so waiting a few days should be no problem.
