ISO Creation

#1 Post by webbos » Sun Nov 29, 2020 4:07 pm

Hello

New to MakeMKV, greetings to everyone :)

Long story short, just acquired an "UHD Friendly" drive. Works within MakeMKV and DVDFab - actually, it's ASUS BW-16D1HT
Is there any way to get ISO or folder-rips (1:1 backups) of an UHD by using MakeMKV ?

Thanks and regards

MakeMKV will not make ISOs on its own. While you could use the file structure of a MakeMKV backup to author a new ISO, it would not be a "1:1 copy".

And yes, you would need BD authoring software to do it.

No you don't need authoring software.

see SamuriHL's post dated October, 3rd.

I have to correct myself to be precise. SamuriHL's method will make a protected ISO.

If you want an unprotected ISO you have rip to folder with MakeMKV and then read these folders in with Imgburn and create the unprotected ISO.

But still no authoring software required.

ImgBurn falls into the "BD Authoring" category. My script will make a protected ISO that's 1:1 with the disc. Alternatively, I have a script that can make a decrypted folder backup and then use ImgBurn to master that to an ISO. This is NOT a 1:1 copy but it doesn't modify the disc structure in any way.

C'mon Sam. Making Imgburn a "BD authoring software" is more than a stretch. Such software picks individual video files and creates a BD structure from scratch. However, Imgburn picks the existing BD structure and makes an ISO from it.
Anyway -what counts is the successful result.

I'm NOT going to argue with you.
