Flash Gordon UHD

#1 Post by jefftr66 » Thu Nov 05, 2020 8:00 pm

Keep getting the "volume key is unknown" error for this disk. I've sent in the AACS file twice but it still does not work.

I'm running MakeMKV in docker - am I missing something?

Are there any restrictions on reaching the key server? A number of high-level DNS servers will refuse to resolve data for "fairuse.org", including CloudFlare. And some country restrictions will get in the way, too.

Good question - how would I determine this?

Quoting a previous post about this:
At a shell prompt, type:

Code: Select all

host hkdata.fairuse.org
Do you get an IP back? Some DNS servers will not resolve any host in the domain fairuse.org. Cloudflare at 1.1.1.1, for example, returns nothing, but both Google DNS IPs 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 resolve it just fine. What your local DNS server gets depends on the "chain" used by the servers in your /etc/resolv.conf file.

Ah, ok. So it should be working. I tried another 4K disk and same thing. It did rip a regular BR disk though.

Can you post your MakeMKV log from it failing with Flash Gordon?

This is what I get when I run: docker logs makemkv

https://pastebin.com/VD7ARtHa

Doesn't seem to be much there. Is there another place to get logs?

MakeMKV has its own log.

https://makemkv.com/faq/item/8

There's a checkbox in the preferences to turn it on. The bottom of the GUI will tell you where the log file is being stored.

More importantly, if MakeMKV can't access the key server it'll show a message saying as much.

On this Docker for MakeMKV (https://github.com/jlesage/docker-makemkv) the most recent issue is about being unable to rip a UHD (https://github.com/jlesage/docker-makemkv/issues/94).
