When does Makemkv support the drive Pioneer BDR-S13EBK

Hello!
I bought a Pioneer BDR-S13EBK and realised that it does not work with MakeMKV.

When will a new firmware be available and when will it work with MakeMKV?

Whenever I start MakeMKV v 1.17.1 linux ( x64-release ) it says that 1.17.7 is too old and I should download the latest version. But the 1.17.7 is up to date.

It also says: ‘Load current SDF in /home/ralf/.MakeMKV ...’
But I cannot find an SDF file in /home/ralf/.MakeMKV.

And under the information :

The drive firmware is too new which blocks LibreDrive and the ability to rip 4K blu-ray discs. No one knows when that will be fixed. Until then, the drive is good for ripping regular blu-ray and DVDs.

The data is stored inside _private_data.tar, which should start around 2MB if the SDF data was downloaded successfully.

No. Your drive is too new and is crippled by Pioneer. You need to buy a drive that has firmware before December 2022. Check the sellers side or write a PM to me.

It's not MakeMKV that is the issue. It is your drive. You should have checkd the UHD guide and purchased a compatible drive. We have been waiting more than a year and a half so far for support for Pioneer's with newer firmware and still no idea if/when it will ever happen.

MakeMKV just copies what's on the disc so usually when people have trouble with sound, it is almost always something in their playback setup that is the trouble. There's a handy utility called MediaInfo that can show you lots of details about what's in your .mkv files (and other formats). DVDCompare.net says that the blu-ray of Buckaroo Bonzai has DTS-HD Master Audio. In an effort to save money, some TVs, sound bars, etc. don't support DTS audio. I don't know, obviously, if that's the case with your setup, but it is a good place to start.
