This can mean several things. If the location is consistent, it usually points to an error on the disk in a fixed location. If it moves around on different runs, it may be an issue where the drive is starting to move faster than it has power to do (most often on USB-powered drives), which is a separate issue.

I have a feeling it might be the HK issue. I added the necessary info to the host file in system32 but it still fails. I probably need a vpn but have never used one for this. Do I need to put info into the proxy server field in prefs? Sorry, I am still a bit new to this.

Got a VPN up and running and that did allow me to download HK's. Fingers crossed The Thing successfully rips.

No luck, HK's didn't seem to do the trick. It's either a disc or drive issue at this point. I am going to return the movie and get another one and I'm looking to get a pioneer drive as well to see if that will fix it.
