Hey, I have a BH16NS40 SVC code: NS50 (from what I can tell) with firmware version 1.01.
I have heard of Firmware version 1.02 over and over on the forums, but I searched and could not find out whether or not 1.01 will make the drive UHD friendly.
Thank you.
BH16NS40 ver. 1.01-A1 UHD Friendly?
Re: BH16NS40 ver. 1.01-A1 UHD Friendly?
IF MakeMKV reports the following, this is NS40 HW:
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1939 (HW, is too old & will never do UHD)
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.01
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Partial
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
NS50 HW would be reported as:
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959 (UHD capable HW)
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.03
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes

Re: BH16NS40 ver. 1.01-A1 UHD Friendly?
Sorry, I forgot the details:
OS device name: I:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BH16NS40
Revision: 1.01
Serial number: SIK9FG14F180
Firmware date: 2115-11-05 10:01
Bus encryption flags: 17
LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.01
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes
This would be the MT1959 platform you pointed out. So a couple of questions:
Is this drive an after 2015 model that I read about on different posts?
Could I apply the firmware update to 1.3 from the LG website itself?
I really did read a lot of info on this forum and redit, but I am not too hardware literate. Also I am a MakeMKV purchased owner since so long ago I forgot, back when subtitles were not rippable even on DVD.

Your drive is already UHD friendly. Just put a UHD disc in and start ripping!bobrpggamer wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 11:55 pmSorry, I forgot the details:

Thank you. I guess I got lucky I bought this years ago and kept it on my spare PC.
