Can't Rip 4K After Windows Re-Install. Worked Previously

Post by BradM »

Hi, I had to do a reformat and reinstall of Windows 10. Before doing this I was able to rip 4K movies without issue using the hashed keys file. Now even with the same setup every 4K title I try is unable to open. For the life of me I can't figure out what is different now that is keeping this from working correctly. I am using version 1.12.0 with most recent hashed keys from 3-21-18. I would greatly appreciate any feedback as to what might be causing this.

Copy/Paste from MakeMKV

Using direct disc access mode
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\brad/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v61_Atomic_Blonde_C685.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc
Using direct disc access mode
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\brad/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v61_Jack_Reacher_Never_Go_Back_B12B.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

When you did the re-install, did you reconfigure MakeMKV to however you had it customized before? Things like the location of the MakeMKV data directory are important for making UHD work.

Thanks Woodstock, that was the problem. I had to change the MakeMKV Data Directory in preferences and since doing so is working perfectly again. I really appreciate your help!

Thank you Woodstock,

Had the same problem but it was not due to reinstall, Makemkv just stopped working one day. I really have no clue how the data directory changed but it caused much frustration for me.

Found this thread, changed the data directory, and works again like a charm!

Wanted to bump this post for the good insight.

Cheers.
