Full backup, but size is wrong?
Full backup, but size is wrong?
I am trying to do a full backup on Doctor Strange (first one), Disc says just main movie file is 52.9 GB, my full backup is 16.96 GB and it plays through without anything missing. All I did is a backup, one of my drives failed the first try, so I looked at the disk and there is an obvious mark on it, tried to clean it, no luck. I put it in my pioneer drive and it went through the full backup with no errors, except there is no way it is the full backup, based on file size. I am ordering a new disc, just curious if anyone has ever run across something like this before? I will have to try and play the file on my Blu Ray player and see what it does.

Do you mean movie backup or full disc backup?Strouty wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 3:58 amI am trying to do a full backup on Doctor Strange (first one), Disc says just main movie file is 52.9 GB, my full backup is 16.96 GB and it plays through without anything missing. If movie only, did you deselect any tracks when creating the MKV file? If full disc backup, did you click the folder at the top to create a decrypted folder backup?
Cheers

I have seen this before also. I have no explanation for it. When I restarted my computer (Mac) the next morning, it showed normal size.
Re: Full backup, but size is wrong?
I was talking full backup of the disc, not just a movie, as the other post says, it seems to have sorted itself out. I too am on a Mac.

If you're doing this stuff on the boot drive of a Mac, the details Finder shows you aren't necessarily completely 100% true all the time.

If you read the links I posted there, you'll get a sense for how complicated things are on modern macOS.
I have found, however, that by doing my MakeMKV work on a secondary SSD connected via USB (or whatever, just not the boot disk) most of the complication goes away and almost always what Finder says about the external drive is correct.
