Version 1.17.3 - ASUS BW160-1HD 3.10
Well this is the first UHD Blu-ray that MakeMKV won't even read. I've now tried two different discs. Each one reads and plays successfully on my PlayStation 5. But with MakeMKV it spins and spins indicates no disc. No error message is generated or file created. Is this a new type of copy protection? Curious if anyone has seen this.
Thanks!

no issue with discs or drive
clean the discs with a damp lint free microfiber cloth and dry with another.
replace the discs
clean the drive
replace the drive with a pioneer or LG BP50/60 or BU40N they are much more reliable

Re: 12 Angry Men (KL Classics) - won't read
I'm having the same issue with the 12 Angry Men as well (specifically the Kino Lorber 4K disc). It's the only UHD disc in my library that MakeMKV just straight up won't read.
I think I have the same model of drive as OP (ASUS BW-16D1HT), so I guess that might have something to do with it. If I absolutely have to get a new drive then I guess I can, it's just strange that 12 Angry Men is the only movie that it cannot read.
