When I take a back-up of a UHD disc, I keep the original audio, and two subtitles, english and norwegian, and uncheck the rest.
Not often, but sometimes I forget to uncheck something, mostly a subtitle. So the rip will have an extra subtitle I've no use for, (and probably don't understand).
In the big scale of things, no problem.
But it annoys me, I know it's there...
I could rip the disc again, and be more careful with the unchecking.
Or I could open the already ripped mkv file in MakeMKV, uncheck the unwanted subtitle, and rip/run the it again.
If I do will I get a loss in quality?
Quality loss?
Re: Quality loss?
Download mkvtoolnix for your platform. You can remove tracks within an existing MKV file, saving it to a new one, without re-ripping. You can also modify the header to select your desired audio/subtitle tracks, without changing the rest of the file.
Subtitle tracks rarely make a substantial size difference, but audio tracks... can be big.
