Repo Man - Issue with opening disk (stuck on /AACS/Contenthash 002.tbl)

Post by BrendanT123 »

As stated in the subject line I am having an issue opening this disk, not the usual "volume key unknown" issue. Instead the disk will begin opening and freeze at /AACS/ContentHash002.tbl. After waiting around 10 minutes the disk will finally open and can begin to rip like normal, but eventually fails.

I've seen a couple suggestions such as downgrading MakeMKV to an older version, cleaning the disk (despite it being new). However, like many forum posts online generally speaking there is no solid conclusive answer. SO, before I go trying to clean a brand new expensive disk has anyone found any solution to this issue on their own?

Extra helpful information:

I do recieve these errors prior to it finally opening
Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading 'BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-212U 1.01 CEDL050688WL' at offset '66723840000'
Error 'Scsi error - HARDWARE ERROR:441E' occurred while reading 'BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-212U 1.01 CEDL050688WL' at offset '66723840000'

I have tried with my other functioning drive, a LG BP50NB40 and that one can't even read the movie's details to begin opening. Both drives can otherwise play the disk outside of MakeMKV.

Did you clean the disc? It sounds like the drive is having trouble reading a section of it.
Cheers :D

I did end up trying to clean it with some dawn soap and a microfiber cloth under warm water. Still had the same issue with both drives. Then I tried using Imgburn to make an ISO of the disk, and this failed as well. I did notice when washing it that there was some rings around the disk. Couldn't see this in dimmer lighting so it might just be defective. I'll return to Amazon tomorrow for a replacement and see if the same issues occur. Setting a reminder to update once I've had the chance to try another copy.
