Ok, I did another comparison. I can say for sure that there IS a difference between the internal player and the x800m2 with the MEL DV Spears and Munsil clip.
The internal player clearly pushes red and yellow more
...
In some scenes, the brightness is exactly the same, in some other scenes it's a bit darker, and in other scenes, it's brighter which points to the L1 issue, I think.
Now that's interesting that sometimes the Sony is brighter with this clip! :)
I'm not sure whether the 10k nits version of this clip is valid for testing because it's not representative for real content (let alone there's no 10k nits grading monitors, so who knows what he saw at the time of grading), I think the 4000 nits version is better for that, although it's interesting to see how the TV handles this particular version.

now, which one is correct? I still don't know but I'll compare a lot more content this way.
Good question! :) And thank You for your hard work with this topic!

Hmm how should I view these comparison photos correctly then? I'm looking at them on my sdr monitor. I guess in hdr the difference will be more obvious, but how do I view them in hdr on my c9 oled?
I upscaled the screenshot to 2160p by mistake because this is how my madvr is configured. So if you check the comparison on a small 1080p monitor, the image is so big that the brightness difference is less obvious.
here I downscaled to 900p:

Ah ok so it depends on the router's speed? Is there a guide on how to stream local rip from pc to PLEX internal app on lg oled?
I recommend using this adaptor instead of the wifi, especially if your router is far away from the TV.

You just have to set up a plex server on your PC and install the plex app on your TV. it's very easy and user-friendly.

True, and I'll check a lot more "1000/4000nits" content with this comparison method.
I think the red/yellow push is the bigger difference between the old cmv2.9 and the new cmv4.0 device and this is something I noticed right away with the Shield years ago when it was released.

It looks great when the movie is properly graded but when the grade is a bit too hot, it sure looks more wrong on the internal C2 player.

anyway, a lot more comparison coming up :D

i have got The Craft UHD and this one when i use the MP4 option it seems to choose the wrong audio format, the movie has a DTS-HD Master 5.1 and a 2 CH and it seems to only choose the 2 channel
Hi,
please try 1.4.8, should be fixed.

I should not have added non-English audio support, it complicated everything...

The wifi is fast enough but i use an usb to giagbit ethernet adaptor.
Which adapter do you use? I’m intrigued that it works on x800m2, I tried one of the x700 and it just came up saying that the device wasn’t supported - guessing they run different OSes maybe?

I can give it a try on my x800m2 and report back if it works.

@RESET_9999 I moved your Dovi Scripts to a new external SSD, and now something is preventing it from working properly.

It gives the following error:

'D:\DoVi_Scripts' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Invalid MKV
Press any key to continue . . .

Any suggestions how to fix this? I tried changing the Enviroment Variables, but it didn't help.

EDIT: The problem was because the Dovi Scripts folder was within a folder on the external drive. I placed the folder into the root of the external SSD and it works properly now.

Yes, it had a + character :D The name was "DoVi_Scripts 1.4.8 + tools" (unzipped after download).

Ah thanks! Sorry, I thought I read you were using it already on the Sonys, but maybe read that wrong?

interesting...

I've compared HDR10/DV/SDR on the internal player and DV is a lot brighter than HDR10...

And this one: so it's confirmed that DoVi config of internal players are screwed :) That's a good thing!
Also, that it can be mitigated by calibration (as you can see my results), if that's right: you only have to know the peak of the C2 for different presets and upload the config file; or wait for the fw fix.
I wouldn't do any comparison until then, it's pointless now :)

The L1 bug is still there with the Oppo and still works with internal Plex, so it's not the tonemapping peak that queitvoid thought of, it must be something else, possibly with the DoVi engine (I verified that the uploaded Cinema setting peak also works with internal Plex).
We have to wait a fix for that one as well.

The internal player of my LG E7P TV will trigger Dolby Vision only when I play profile 5 DV mp4s. The internal player always falls back to HDR10 after I remux profile 8 DV mkvs into profile 8 DV mp4s. So, for me, the only solution was using ffmpeg to extract audio/video from a profile 8 DV mkv and then using mp4remuxer to put the resulting files into an mp4 with the command that starts with "mp4remuxer --dv-profile 5". Have any of you had problems triggering DV when playing profile 8 DV mp4s with the internal players of your LG TVs?

Guys, just an offtopic question: is there any reason to upgrade from a Sony X700 to a Sony X800m2 in terms of picture quality? An increase in PQ (however slight) would certainly make me buy one, now after member @RESET_9999 taught me how to properly remux Dolby Vision files and play them on the Sony?

Thanks
