mmm, L1/L2 is ignored in LLDV... @manix just tested the Shield, x700 and Dune player.
so the LLDV bug is even worse than we thought??
I guess. Did it work with the previous test version?

We did not test LLDV with the first version but @GREMez comment is about it.

Interestingly, it may be a different problem than the one described in Vincent video because with the Dune player set to LLDV in the display settings(instead of using the vertex), now L1/L2 is working.
There are no LLDV options on the Shield/x700, it can only be forced with an hdfury device or a LLDV TV.

I tried the latest version, but it's still not triggering DV. I remuxed as "blu-ray disc". Do I need to change the mux settings?
you remuxed as bluray folder and tried to play the m2ts ? that's the problem.
You have to mux your BD straight to TS or M2TS.

This is expected and not a bug then. I don't think the vertex actually processes the input image.
It's supposed to be done by the device.

@GREMez has no l1/l2 response with the shield without using any vertex.

As you said, the Shield doesn't support LLDV.
So the TV expects to receive the preprocessed image as input, which the Shield isn't doing.

At least that's how I understand it.

The shield supports LLDV, the x700/x800m2 as well.
They just don't have an option in the display settings to select it. instead they use the TV EDID to choose the DV mode.

Okay, not sure then. It might just be a bug with the older Sony TVs.

That's strange, I assume you tried my scripts?
if not then try the mp4muxer P8 modes or nightly tsmuxer.

I tested your script the movie I wanted to convert to MP4 DVI to work perfectly I had not seen your script in your description, Thank you for your work 8)

I have an Apple TV 4K 2021 and an iPhone 12 Pro Max, so I can help.
I've added profile 8.4 generation based on iPhone 13 RPU samples.

Profile 8.4 L2 tests: https://mega.nz/file/0RMX1I5b#eULlLdOrg ... BRERfgWICw
It might need to be remuxed depending on your device.

Also remade the L2 test file in CM v4.x with the minimum required blocks, so it's still L2 only.
Profile 8.1: https://mega.nz/file/tc0nkBjY#LsBfxDMUh ... EUXe2vjCgg

For profile 8.4 HLG I tested it on my side and it works. I can't see a difference between 8.1 and 8.4 by eye.
FireTV Stick 4K Max (2021, latest update): plays in Dolby Vision, L2 metadata works.
FireTV Stick 4K (2018, old update): plays in HLG, wrong colours.

I've blocked updates on my 2018 stick, so I can't test if it was added.

If anyone wants to test on other devices, feel welcome.
Many thanks, I'm tried with Apple TV 4K 2021 + Infuse, but the ATV does not handle the RPU. I will report to the Firecore forum.

Using Reset_9999's scripts and had some questions:

How accurate is the conversion of HDR10plus to DV? Anything I can do to improve the conversion? I don't have an HDR10+ display to compare.

Also, sometimes I end up with both an .hevc and a .bin file when using the script, etc. Do I need to do anything with the .bin or just mux the .hevc into a mkv? I'm not losing anything by discarding the .bin, correct? S

@quietvoid:
I also created mp4 and ts versions of your test files: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ahh4FiB9hIuT-ETf93f ... D?e=nOgBuQ
Is it possible that the Apple TV could only read the RPU from the mov container? How can I make a mov file?

Not sure. ffmpeg isn't keeping the Dolby Vision config when converting to mov. Only mp4.

nop, you cannot improve the conversion. it's the best you can get with the input source you have.

you can delete the .bin file.
I keep a copy because I want to share the rpu with my friends.

For movies with neither a Dolby Vision track nor HDR10+ metadata to convert, how much of a difference am I likely to notice on an LG C1 between auto-generating shot-by-shot metadata versus just playing it back with static metadata? Is it more likely to make a difference in a brighter room (so Dolby Vision IQ can do its thing) than a fully dark room?

Finally, is there any way to generate shot-by-shot metadata on Linux, or do I have to use the madMeasureHDR.exe program under Windows?

Thanks.
