Why do people mess about with MX player?
Thanks for the steps. What DV profile do you get when you did these steps using MKV? Another question, why TSMuxer need MKV step? I thought DV and Atmos was possible without involving MakeMKVSamuriHL wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 9:54 pmFor those that are looking to make this work in the easiest way possible:
1) Rip to MKV with MakeMKV
2) eac3to titlename.mkv 2: titlename.thd+ac3
Note: titlename should be replaced with the actual name of the MKV
3) Add the MKV and the thd+ac3 track to TSMuxer
4) Remux to TS
I've done this to a few of them. Currently watching Ready Player One on my SHIELD Pro 2019 in Plex as we speak. This is fantastic.
I also don't understand why we need to involve the MakeMKV if we are not going to use the MKV container as a final file. I thought TSMuxer could do all of the above ( DV + HD Audio with Atmos/DTS:X )darrrkmanxxx wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 8:11 amGuys, can't we just take the .m2ts file from STREAM folder and do all with tsmusxer? If so, which version I should use?

The files you're creating are clearly fine, especially if they're playing in DV with Plex, so I would suggest stop tinkering with the remux process and focus more on the set up. Have you tried any of the suggestions I had mentioned? Another thing you may want to try is just playing the mkv directly from the result of makemkv and see if atmos audio is working from that. If that doesn't work, then there's obviously something that's preventing atmos from being played. What does the rest of your system look like (brand/model of audio receiver, how everything is hooked up, etc)?rosavanwinkle wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 11:20 pmSo i just converted a movie using makemkv and then tsmuxer

Plex gives me dolby vision. do i have to change some settings?
I seriously am starting to trip out on where i'm wrong.

How do you using Plex and which version? Do you have to set up the server and the whole thing or can it just be used as a standalone player? To playback direct from attache to tv hdd?rosavanwinkle wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 8:35 amshawnc22 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 11:42 pmLike I said in the other thread, the issue is with your set up. that is not completly correct. You cannot save TrueHD (with atmos) in an mp4. A DD+/EAC3 with Atmos also works with an mp4. But this happens very rarely.
MakeMKV is used so that the tsMuxer recognizes the video. An MP4 is not recognized by the tsMuxer. Since it is now recognized, you can insert a TrueHD and then save it as .ts, .m2ts or disc folder. TrueHD was the only limitation with an mp4. DTS-HD, DTS, AC3, EAC3+Atmos and AAC also worked before. (in my case with the shield 2019 pro)

Please try to go back and read the first few pages of this thread. Going straight from the unecrypted m2ts file in tsmuxer will leave you with a ts file that still has the BL and EL+RPU layer in separate video tracks. This file can only be played on the x700 (and maybe oppo) to obtain dolby vision. Playing this file anywhere else (if it plays at all) will get you only HDR10. To get DV on other devices such as the Shield, the video tracks must combined first either using yusecope’s tool or the latest version of makemkv (the whole point of creating this thread). In a future version of tsmuxer, you may be able to skip this intermediate step as @jcdr is currently working on an implementation of the dual track to single track conversion into tsmuxer itself.
Pretty much just do exactly what you’re currently doing, except add in a step for extracting the audio and converting it to a format that your system is capable of handling. Try reading the first few pages of the other thread; it’s what people had to do previously with the mp4 method because of limitations in the mp4 container in handling truehd atmos tracks.rosavanwinkle wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 8:35 amfor now i think i'm just going to try focus on just getting the dolby vision part of the atmos doesnt work, you got a guide for that too aka ac3?
you could try adding the mkv to tsmuxer and create a bdmv folder as output, then use that in makemkv to get a combined mkv, then add it to tsmuxer once more and make a ts file. no idea if that works though. doubtful, as it would be similar to just demuxing the two video tracks and using yusesope's tool to combine them before making a ts file, which has been tested and doesn't really work well. (the odd mel movie was ok I think)
