I think the drive you're using can make a difference. When I bought mine, I was using an LG WH16NS40 drive at the time. I returned my copy of The Abyss 4K to exchange for another since I had a lot of trouble ripping mine. With the new disc I got in exchange, I had to try a couple times before it would successfully rip. Later, I decided to buy a Pioneer optical drive, since I had been hearing Pioneer makes (or made) the best optical drives. With the Pioneer drive, I tried ripping a few of the 4K discs that were troublesome with the LG drive, and the Pioneer drive had no problem at all ripping them. When I heard Pioneer had stopped making drives, I decided to buy another one (along with an external USB enclosure) to keep as a a spare (and unfortunately, the price of the drive had started to increase by then).

Well shiz, I just bought the LG WP50NB40. I had no probs with Aliens like some others in the thread. I hate that these drives are becoming scarce.
