Why would you want to do that? P7 is pointless without FEL. As far as DV quality goes: P7 FEL > P5 > P7 MEL = P8
I actually always convert P7 MEL to P8.
Does it have to be P8 ts or it can be P8 mkv? In the P8 hybrid tutorial the final file is ts

TS/M2TS/MKV/MP4 are just video containers. They are unrelated to the DV profile and I was using the TS version in the video because back then, I didn't have the Ugoos and was still using my x800m2

What are the benefits of doing so? To remove the color difference caused by apple?

For better support on devices. I used to do that when I was using my TV internal player Plex and kept doing it even after getting the ugoos.
Also by doing this, I know that all my P7 rip are FEL even though it's easy and fast to find out with dovi_scripts

What about the "color difference cause by apple"? Your spreadsheet says "Once removed (when converted to P8), the colors match." What file that needs to be converted to P8 here? The web releases?

Ok.
I'm using workflow 7-3 to generate screenshots to compare brightness between the hdr10 bluray and DV stream. It says "PQ screenshots DVP5/HDR10 or SDR vs SDR (Libplacebo)".
Why DVP5? Can I still use this workflow if the DV stream is profile 8?

because 7-3 and 7-2 dont care about metadata, they only process the base layer of P8 P7 P5

Is this lossless?

Thanks ... Also, is it possible to check if a disc is FEL or MEL using MediaInfo?

I thought the FEL/MEL is encoded as a separate video track but I've checked tons of full remux rips and all of them only have a single video track? (for example, Back To The Future)

not with mediainfo but you can use workflow 2-2 with dovi_scripts

I thought the enhancement layer was stored as a separate video track though?

P7 is a dual-layer format that can be Single or Dual track.

Ahh! I never knew what that meant but now I think I do. Single layer means it's embedded into the base layer (?) video track and dual layer means it has a separate video track?

Does MakeMKV automatically convert the dual layer into a single layer?

For example, Back To The Future appears to be dual layer (according to caps-a-holic.com) but the rips are only single layer?
