Thanks for that keydb_helper. I went to the download page and grabbed the latest english keydb.cfg download after receiving your notification.keydb_helper wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2026 3:17 pmThanks for providing that disc dump Captain Ron. I downloaded and opened the archive and copied out the keydb.cfg file into my C:\Users\<my user name>\.MakeMKV folder and launched MakeMKV.
Now when I try to do an unencrypted full backup of my Send Help disc I get MakeMKV telling me it doesn't know the volume label of the disc.
This process is quite new to me so apologies if I am misunderstanding it. I thought supplying these details and getting an update into the keydb.cfg file would allow MakeMKV to decrypt the disc as an alternative to native support while it is being worked on.
Is that not the case or am I missing something fundamental about the process?

Re: Public KeyDB Disc Submissions
Thanks to everyone who followed the template and provided new disc dump files. The following UHD discs have been added to the public keydb (new media keys are indicated with an asterisk):
The first thing I'll ask you to confirm is that your extracted keydb.cfg actually contains the entry for your disc. Open up the keydb.cfg in any text editor and search for 0x262CA37FAC35067436A9A45996EA5502E81A8FBF. You should see something like this:
If you can't find a match, you may have downloaded an old keydb.cfg file from a mirror site. Grab the latest keydb from the FindVUK home page as it contains the details for your disc.
The second possible issue is the location of the keydb.cfg file. You are correct that the default location on Windows will be C:\Users\<your user name>\.MakeMKV. But the actual location utilised by MakeMKV is determined by the 'MakeMKV data directory' setting and this can be modified by users.
Within MakeMKV you'll want to click on 'View', and then 'Preferences'. Click on the 'General' tab and note the directory listed under the 'MakeMKV data directory' heading. That is where you'll need to copy the extracted keydb.cfg file in order for MakeMKV to actually use it.
(The keydb.cfg file should end up in the same folder where you originally found your MKB20_v82_SEND_HELP_B852.tgz dump file but I figured there was some reuse potential in writing out the process)
Code: Select all
MKB20_v82_Fight_Club_ACE0
*MKB20_v82_L_AGENT_SECRET_2356
*MKB20_v82_PANDORA_UHD_228A
Hey Captain Ron, your understanding is correct. Because the public keydb contains the keys for your disc MakeMKV can be configured to utilise it to create an unencrypted backup.Captain Ron wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2026 4:00 pmI thought supplying these details and getting an update into the keydb.cfg file would allow MakeMKV to decrypt the disc as an alternative to native support while it is being worked on.

keydb_helper. I had indeed downloaded the correct keydb.cfg file but it needed relocated to the MakeMKV data directory. Now my "Send Help" UHD is decrypting and backing up fine.
Thanks for your help with this. I understand the process properly now.

Seeing as you are also a Windows user, may I suggest SamuriHL's KeyDB Helper utility asCaptain Ron wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2026 8:43 amkeydb_helper. This utility acts as a convenient front-end to the FindVUK program, allowing you to perform incremental updates to your local KEYDB.cfg file, as well as copying this file to the correct directory for MakeMKV to use. And in some cases, it may even be able to infer what a missing entry should be, validate it against your disk and then upload that entry into the online KEYDB without any outside assistance at all
Validating existing "(NOTVALIDATED)" entries for any disks you may own is also useful, of course...

Hey xokia, thanks for the attempt but it is really weird that you ignored the submission template except for a single line which wasn't even correct as your disc was added to the public keydb on April 23.
