Hello everyone,
I'm really sorry to ask you this really dumb question, but I can't find a definite answer...
I have a Mac mini and I would like to rip some of my 4K BD, with a drive that I would connect using a USB cable. I was going to buy this drive
https://www.amazon.fr/techPulse120-Supe ... 219&sr=8-1
but one of my friend told me with a real assurance that 4K/USD BD can only be read on Intel platforms. Only Intel processors, they don't work on AMD processors.
I read the forum, the MakeMKV MacOS section, people seem to be able to rip 4K/UHD BD, but...
Really sorry to ask such a stupid question, you're my only hope, Obi Wan
Really Really stupid question : External UHD drive and Apple Mac mini
Re: Really Really stupid question : External UHD drive and Apple Mac mini
The disks have limitations if you use official software. Use normal software, and they work like normal disks.
For example, if you put in a UHD disk and try to play it with the official software, it will complain that you don't have the proper Intel-only hardware to display it. Use unofficial software, like VLC, and it will play.
If you rip it with MakeMKV, then you don't have to worry about "official" or "unofficial" software.
