New to 4k ripping question

Post by grappler1999 »

Hello,

I’m new to ripping discs and recently finished ripping my entire Blu-ray collection (about 13 TB total). I’m now looking to start ripping my 4K Ultra HD collection and have a few questions:

Does the LG BP60NB10 external slim 4K Ultra HD drive work for ripping to MKV format? The listing states that it has been flashed with the correct firmware.

Will I be able to rip 4K Ultra HD discs on a Mac?

Will 4K MKV rips maintain the same quality as the original disc? My Blu-ray rips turned out very well, and I’m hoping for similar results with 4K.

Thank you for any guidance.

Yes, that firmware version should work properly with 4K/UHD discs

Yes. MakeMKV does not re-encode anything so the quality will be identical. It is functionally the same as moving an object from one box to another, slightly smaller box.

  • Please use file hosts, not forum attachments
  • If your disc dump is under 3MB, you need to manually include the MKB_RO.inf file from the AACS folder
