... Now the question is where do I put the KEYDB.cfg to complete the process of updating that allows MakeMKV to work with this movie.
...
Open MakeMKV > Preferences & select the 'General' tab. The location you're looking for is the "MakeMKV data directory'.

If you're on windows and are still stuck, you can use my KeyDB Helper tool.

viewtopic.php?f=12&t=16883&p=166510#p166510

It will download the latest keydb.cfg and put it in the correct location for you. Restart MakeMKV after you run the synchronize command and you should be good to go.

I give up. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried multiple times and nothing works. I consider myself a fairly tech savvy person but this makes no sense to me. I've tried and I guess it will be easier and less stressful on me to wait for the next update, because everything that I've been given and pointed in the "right direction" and tried, but nothing works. So I don't know what else to do. I even spent another $60 on MakeMKV thinking maybe this might help but to no avail. I think that may have added to my frustration. I just wish there was a step by step tutorial or a video showing this process in action. Thanks everyone for trying but this is a bit too much for me.

I can see from your screenshot that you have the EAE2 variant, which KEYDB does not yet support. This would explain why adding KEYDB.cfg into your data directory does not allow MakeMKV to decrypt your disk. Can you share your TGZ dump file, please?

Here you go. If there's another email I need to send this to please let me know because I did send this already.

The only official email is svq@makemkv.com, which allows MakeMKV to add your disk to its "hashed keys" database. However, also making your TGZ dump file available like this allows other people to try adding your disk to the public KEYDB.cfg file as well. It can sometimes be faster to get your disk added to KEYDB.cfg than to MakeMKV's "hashed keys", although it's less certain if the dump was created using a Pioneer drive...

When I replied to you Done and Done I had already sent this to that email address.

Yes, but amount of time it takes from emailing your dump to svq@makemkv.com to your key appearing in the hashed keys database is completely unknowable. It could be anything from a few hours to a few weeks (or even more!). This is why people also try to add their disk to KEYDB.cfg as well.

And now that you've provided your TGZ dump file, it would be worth rechecking the KEYDB.cfg file occasionally ;).

I have an external Pioneer BDR XD-04 Blu-ray disc reader. Discs have been reading fine, but the new Sonic 3 UHD disc is not reading. It sounds like the disc starts to spin for a split second and then clicks and stops. It tries several more times before it just gives up and does not recognize a disc is present.

Any ideas?

Clean the disc with a microfiber cloth. If that doesn't work try a different drive if possible and/or replace the disc.

Is that a UHD compatible drive capable of reading UHD discs??
Cheers :D
