Help With Dune Part 2 MakeMKV Error

Hello, I am able to watch the movie on the same ripping PC and was able to rip the movie in the past (hard drive went bad), but now I am getting fail on each rip attempt.

I tried cleaning the disc, but still getting failed rip. The disc was purchased new last year May 2024 and was only ripped to PC once before my many attempts now.

Is this just a random case of disc going bad?

I wouldn't expect a disc as new as Dune Part 2 to 'go bad'. It might be dirty. Certainly the drive is having trouble reading a spot on the disc.

It might also be that the optics on your drive are dirty. They could be gently cleaned with a Q-Tip and isopropyl alcohol along with a microfiber towel to wipe it dry (don't let it air dry). Some drives are easier than others to get access to the drive optics.

If you have another drive, or maybe a friend or family member has a drive you can use, giving it a try wouldn't hurt. In my experience the same disc in a different drive will often, although not always, produce different results.
