Attached TGZ files will be removed

Post by Woodstock »

Effective immediately, attached dump ("TGZ") files will be removed from posts. These should be emailed to svq@makemkv.com if you want them used to develop keys; posting them here just delays that process.

Posting the NAME of the file you sent is encouraged, so that others know a key is in process, or it they need to send their particular dump file in because it is different.

EDITED TO ADD: A change; dump files uploaded will be allowed temporarily, so that they can be pulled by other people who can process them for they keydb database. After they've been pulled, they will be removed.

Adding to this, DO A SEARCH FOR THE MOVIE TITLE FIRST to see if there are any existing threads where you can add your dump file name to. If there's none, then create one.

This should hopefully stop the forum having multiple threads for the same movie title which just makes information harder to find.
Cheers :D

I just got my copy of Godzilla Minus One (4K) from Amazon. I see there are a few threads about dumps for said movie that end in "275C", "GRUV" and "Collector's Edition".

"Collector's Edition" seems to be pretty self explanatory, but what is "275C" and "GRUV"?

I emailed the TGZ file to svq@makemkv.com. Should another thread be started?

The general preference on this forum is for all posts about the various dump files for a title to go in the same thread.

The name of the dump files includes a 4 digit 'hash' at the end of the file name. If two discs produce the exact same file name, then they'll be unlocked with the same key. Many titles, however, use several keys and so the dump files from various discs will produce different file names. Often, the only thing different will be the 'hash' at the end. When this happens, sometimes people just post in the existing thread that they've submitted their dump with the associated hash.

https://www.gruv.com is a place to buy discs online. It is owned by Universal Pictures.

I haven't seen this issue before in my experience of ripping movies.

Thanks.
