All pretty much the same, the AMB6 Plus probably has wifi 6 and the non plus doesn't. What matters is that they all have the amlogic s922xj soc. The AMB6 Plus probably has the largest community but the cheapest one you find, is the best option.

Has anyone tried the AM8 Pro with the Amlogic S928X-J soc? Does this play DV P7 MEL/FEL mkv files via NAS streaming? Is it possible to dual boot and use CoreElec or LibreElec?
Cheers :D

@RESET_9999

Why DV5 better DV8 ?

True:
DV5 brightness 0-1023 chroma 0-1023
DV8 brightness 64-940 chroma 64-960

DV5=1,15*DV8 video bitrate.

Netflix DV5 video bitrate 17,5 Mbit.

Because DV8 videobitrate >20,125 Mbit better than DV5.

I wonder if saying P5 is better over P8 just by comparing specs and bitrates is a real-world thing. Maybe it's more fair to express "better" in terms of perception of delivered quality. P5's full range and use of proprietary colorspace carrying potential, one still has to wait & see how bad/well this potential is used on delivery. Streaming services have horribly proofed themselves to - and still do - deliver terrible quality (and not only in DoVi) on a regular base. For this sake of lower bandwith they still simply often compress video too much. I have done some dovibaker x265 HDR encodings from disc-sourced material which quality obliterates that of any P5 stream of same video. Just saying. P8, MEL (and even FEL) are no guarantee to provide with a "better" picture of course, but in my viewing experience overall Dolby Vision quality on - or derived from - disc still rules. And not by a bit.

yeah I agree. Streaming services have horrible encoding quality most of the time, especially itunes and Amazon. It's never just about the bitrate, the encode settings matter big time.

It's been tried. No Coreelec yet and no DV P7.

Ok, thanks. I'll wait for a bit and hopefully it will be supported soon.

Hi everyone.
I have a TV that does not support LED TV. Nits less than 1000.

If I buy Ugoos, am I right? Or would LLDV be broken in my case?

Second question:

My TV is Android and with Kodi I can play all DV profiles up to 7 MEL. I would only use Ugoos for 7 Fel.

But if for example I have a dv 8 film, should I always prefer the internal app on the TV or can I choose Ugoos?

If I understand correctly, the three best devices are the following:

UGOOS AM6B plus
UGOOS AM6 plus
Minix u22x-j max

Is this correct? What's the difference between them and is there any recommendation for the one best option?

UGOOS AM6B plus = WiFi6, Metal case better cooling, smaller footprint
UGOOS AM6 plus = WiFi5, Metal case better cooling, smaller footprint
Minix u22x-j max = WiFi5, Plastic case

the AM6B Plus can be had on Aliexpress for $160 shipped direct from Ugoos

In the dual-track dual-layer support column, I noticed mkv being mentioned. Is DTDL possible in matroska nowadays?

It's supported when the 2nd layer has the dv flag (sidedata) and AFAIK, the only way to get that is by muxing a DT MP4.

Is there a guide somewhere on how to create such DTDL mkv when I have a DTDL MP4, or even already separate BL and EL+RPU? Can this be directly done in MKVToolNix?
