Interesting article I found.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
thanks for the reply.. so it seems it may not be a great alternative to emby as you still have to reencode files? what about if the files already have DDP with bitrate lower than 1024kbps? are they ok or does it have to be exactly that number?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 8:49 pm
solution:
encode DDP at 1024kbps and configure kodi to always select the track with the ''default'' flag. This has been 100% stable on my end (video + audio).
CPU usage seems fine but the memory usage is very high (80% +). I'm not sure if it's normal or fine. I never checked the ram usage using plex.
it would be great if you ever got the chance to compare the CPU/RAM usage of kodi vs the other players.
would you know how they are able to process DV MKV files when it is seemingly incompatible with the TV OS?

no, any bitrate under 1024DDP with bitrate lower than 1024kbps? are they ok or does it have to be exactly that number?
I don't know and it doesn't really matter as long as its not fake.would you know how they are able to process DV MKV files when it is seemingly incompatible with the TV OS?
some canNo TV can passthrough TrueHD/DTS-HD from internal app player to receiver/soundbar right?
Sorry for my English.

Would transferring the EL from a release to another be possible and if so would it be feasible?

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Asking for the same movie, but different encoding. One has HDR10 only and another has DV, EL+RPU, just that the RPU on it is not proper and though if I'm going to replace the RPU with the one from you, maybe I could have the EL 'transplanted' to another version which also has a better encode of the transfer.
Also, have you ever tested your Z9X for SDR output when you had it? I could swear that even in SDR this thing is not as good as the internal player. I got a Z9X Pro and this thing is buggy as hell, worse than nVidia drivers. The Z9X looks as if transcoded, as it looks the same when the same content is transcoded through Plex, although on the Z9X I'm playing it directly through the built-in player which technically is direct play.

Well, I think the BL is encoded a specific way when it's meant for FEL DV so I guess it would work but it might cause issues.
Zidoo: SDR and HDR10 were fine when I tested it.

I will try it, but first will have to see the RPU syncing steps, as I'm not to clear on that, as the two editions do not perfectly line-up, there is a few hundred milliseconds difference between the 'donor' and the 'patient'

I show how to resync the rpu in my P8 hybrid tutorial video on YouTube.
You can't really resync FEL though.

@RESET_9999
is there a workflow or script which can simply convert a mkv file to mp4 without encoding or demuxing & remuxing etc? I currently use tsmuxer to do that as it converts mkv to m2ts on the fly so I only need about 110% of the original file as free space, whereas if I were to demux it, then convert/encode it and then remux it I would need 3x the free space.

Yeah, but seems I am not able to fix this one. I have MadVR installed, Lav filters and all.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 11:10 pmI show how to resync the rpu in my P8 hybrid tutorial video on YouTube.

Yep, 6-2, got the same lavfilters settings, same error.
