It is different, because they are not 'baked into' the video. They are generated during playback by the player.sultanmehmet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 8:57 pmIs this the same as 'hardsubs' aka 'baked in' subs?dcoke22 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:38 pmForced Subtitles are subtitles that display even when you have subtitles turned off. Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I understand. I am now muxing them with Tsmuxer in anticipation for my x700 to arrive probably in 2 days. I muxed 1 with succes but got a “Reading buffer overflow. Possible container streams are not syncronized. Please, verify stream fps.” error during the second one.
This doesn't matter wheather I do TS muxing or M2TS muxing. It happens every time at 13.9%. I don't really know where to go from here. I thought it was perhaps audio related but it's the only English audio track on the Blu-Ray so I don't really have a choice.
My input file was the m2ts file (90GB) if that's important at all.
EDIT: I also read on the spreadsheet that you can also use m2ts files. In this case, can I just drag on drop the m2ts file unto the HDD? Every audio and subtitle track that I want to use is the default one (english & english). And they are m2ts so there is no TrueHD core to not be present.

Use the mpls (playlist) file for the movie as the input, not the m2ts file.sultanmehmet wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 10:27 pmI understand. Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks for the suggestion. I had also tried that and that also failed, at the exact same place. Then I tried another movie and that one also failed with the same error but at 32%. Worst thing is I don't even understand the error very much so I don't know how to solve it. Tried Googling it but people seem to be getting this error since 2009 so I could be all sorts of things.
Can somebody confirm if I can just copy the 'raw' m2ts file to my HDD? Or does that also need to be muxed beforehands to a muxed m2ts?

No, you'll get "fake" DV if you do that. You must remux to TS/M2TS or BDMV with the nightly tsmuxer.sultanmehmet wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 1:42 amCan somebody confirm if I can just copy the 'raw' m2ts file to my HDD?
It sounds like you're using the very old tsmuxer. I use this version (had issues with the latest ones)...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Good morning.
I followed the Generate Dolby Vision and HDR10plus videotutorial in Davinci Resolve.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdFiqATo_j8&t=325s
I generated the two files "DV.xml" and "HDR10plus.json", launched "DoVi_Script 1.7.0" Choice 6>5, dragged the video file (mkv) and after that the file "HDR10plus.json".
I get the message "Unable to find the specified path".
I have done the procedure several times, but I can't figure out
where I'm going wrong.
Thank you very much

Looks like you didnt download and set the tools path: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/fold ... J2M9DvOQRu
You should also update to 1.7.6 in which you can now use (1-1) to inject both XML and json.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Is 1.7.6 official now? Or still in beta? Thanks again for all of your effort on this project.RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 12:04 pmYou should also update to 1.7.6 in which you can now use (1-1) to inject both XML and json.

yes it's the latest stable version but a new beta 1.7.6.1 coming up later today.

I suggest you re-do any HDR10plus to DV conversion you did with the old dovi_tool

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Looks like mega took this folder down. Anyway you could reupload?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 8:19 pmHi,
you can use the script in my signature (workflow 1-1) to inject both metadata. Or use the Dovi_tool and HDR10plus_tool to inject manually, you can find these tools on quietvoid's GitHub.
see my youtube channel (link in my signature), i made a video tutorial a while ago.
if you want to save some time, I already generated DV in resolve for most of the movies, here are over 600 RPU files ready to be injected
Code: Select all

yeah i should have mentioned that the link would be online for only 1 week.
I PMed you a new link.
Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Thanks so much! Apologies, but I am not yet well-read on the CMV4.0 vs CMV2.9 discussion. Is there a reason one would prefer one versus the other? I'm guessing it is more future-proof, but at this time most hardware doesn't support it? Is there a downside to keeping it?RESET_9999 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 6:53 pmyes it's the latest stable version but a new beta 1.7.6.1 coming up later today.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Good evening.
I apologize using the link Read Me https://github.com/quietvoid/hdr10plus_tool
I can download "hdr10plus_tool.exe" and not "hdr10plus_parser.exe"
Should I rename the file?
Thank you

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
First, most of the movies are done in CMV4.0 but exported in CMV2.9.jayper wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 9:54 pmThanks so much! Apologies, but I am not yet well-read on the CMV4.0 vs CMV2.9 discussion. CMV4.0 is backward compatible with cmv2.9. The trim passes (100-600-1000nits) are done in the level 8 for cmv4.0 and level 2 for cmv2.9.
When a device and the rpu are CMV4.0, the L2 trims are ignored because it will use the L8 trims which is the proper behavior.
Now the problem is that most of the CMv4.0 movies only have a 100nits L8 trim pass which is obviously not used in DV playback but they do have proper L2 trims that are ignored on cmv4.0 devices (shield/firestick/appletv/internal tv ). So you get inferior quality on those devices unless you remove the CMV4.0 block. The test files (made with original metadata from the movie Puss in boots) show exactly the problem and I bet this is the reason why we do not see a lot of CMV4.0 movies because the colorist has to do the trim passes two times (L8 + L2).
In my script, you can use 2-6 to export the trims to a text file and verify the raw data. So if you use a CMV4.0 devices, you might want to inspect your movies for cmv4.0 metadata (mostly amazon DV and movie anywhere web-dl ) .
