I confirm your findings. there is a lot more clipping on the x700 than on C1 internal player.
thanks so it's not only a C2 issue and it very much looks like an issue with V2.9 vs v4.0 since the shield happens to have the newer DV engine too and behave properly.

Is this only an issue with player-led Dolby Vision? Can the C2 perform TV-led Dolby Vision while still using the x700 to avoid the issues with L1?

those video are TV-led

it's also an issue with LLDV and it's actually a lot worse because not even L2 works with player-led TV.

My Oppo was set to TV-led specifically.

subtitles must be external SRT and filename the same as the TS.
example:
Movie.Name.ts
Movie.Name.ENG.FORCED.srt

I dont know about the native LG player but it works in PLEX

Can anybody with an oppo (or clone) test this?

Does it also have the bug?

Thanks ... hopefully it hasn't shipped yet.

I purchased both an x800m2 (received from Amazon) and oppo-clone (m9201, not yet shipped).

I have an LG CX and LG C1 but they don't support DTS or any lossless, right?

I've been trying to understand everything to get a "complete" UHD playback setup but it now seems impossible?

correct, no dts support nor truehd via internal player. I convert to EAC3 5.1 1536kbps and get good quality (ARC).
EAC3 7.1 doesnt work on my end via ARC.

I wonder if this would allow me to play DV TS + LPCM 7.1 via EARC to my ARC AVR.

Thank you so much Reset for these findings. I was so close to purchasing x800m2 after going through your excel file sheet about all the players and its capabilities. I even had it in my cart  But I guess I should be satisified with my shield pro and lg cx.

I have almost the same exact product (SHARC v1) but I haven't used it yet. I ordered it a while ago but never used it on my LG CX but I'm going to try on my new LG C1. I'll let you know how it works.

Now that the x800m2/700/Oppo have a known bug, what is the next best method for playing FEL movies?

I don't think there are any FEL devices that support cmv4.x unfortunately...

maybe the expensive Panasonic?
