Does zip hurt quality

I have a ton of video files I want to compress into zip because of how I setup mkv. Will there be any lost data at all? I plan to redo my entire catalog but this question has been in the back of my mind for a while. I access my video files directly so i dont need it to be compatible with plex or anything like that. Sorry if its been asked before but I couldn't find this question anywhere in the search bar or reddit.

ZIP does not throw data away. It is a "lossless" compression method.

Other compression methods cannot guarantee that. And ZIP is not the most efficient compression method of ways to compress cleanly.

Thank you I will look for efficient lossless compression software. New to compressing files but I figured I should make a backup so I don't lose anything in case of disaster
