ATMOS vs DTS-HD Master [For 7.1 audio setup]

Post by WEZZEBE »

My setup:
Denon AVR-X2800H (Using all HDMI 2.1) + LG G2 OLED Tv + Media Player (Or 4K Bluray Player)
7.1 Audio speakers (So no Atmos speakers)

If i rip my 4K Blu-Ray and it has 2 great Audio (Atmos And DTS-HD MA). What do i pick for 7.1 speakers setup?

Example Braveheart:
Audio #1
ID : 2
Format : MLP FBA 16-ch
Format/Info : Meridian Lossless Packing FBA with 16-channel presentation
Commercial name : Dolby TrueHD with Dolby Atmos
Codec ID : A_TRUEHD
Bit rate : 5 106 kb/s
Maximum bit rate : 8 013 kb/s
Channel(s) : 8 channels
Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs Lb Rb
Frame rate : 1 200.000 FPS (40 SPF)
Compression mode : Lossless
Stream size : 6.34 GiB (7%)
Original source medium : Blu-ray
Number of dynamic objects : 11
Bed channel count : 1 channel
Bed channel configuration : LFE

Audio #2
ID : 3
Format : DTS XLL
Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems
Commercial name : DTS-HD Master Audio
Codec ID : A_DTS
Bit rate : 4 252 kb/s
Channel(s) : 8 channels
Channel layout : C L R LFE Lb Rb Lss Rss
Frame rate : 93.750 FPS (512 SPF)
Compression mode : Lossless
Stream size : 5.28 GiB (6%)

Is DTS-HD MA gonna be the same (or better) AQ for a 7.1 setup? Or still less because the bitrate is lower?

DTS-HD Master Audio is not DTS's object based surround format. That is called DTS:X.

DTS-HD Master Audio is DTS's competitor to Dolby TrueHD. They're both lossless, multi-channel audio formats. DTS:X is the competitor to Dolby Atmos.
