Will MakeMKV (in theory) support ripping 4K Blu-rays?

I guess it's a bit early to tell, but I'm curious if MakeMKV will be able (at least in theory) to rip 4K Blu-ray discs? I mean once they become more common and when 4K Blu-ray players are available for computers. I'm just thinking if a purchase of MakeMKV now will last so it also covers those upcoming 4K Blu-ray discs that we eventually want instead old low-res 1080p. :? :)

There might not be drives that play 4k blu-rays for computers.

True – I guess we have to wait and see. But it sounds reasonable that there will be I think. I mean, there are Blu-ray drives for computers so why stop there?

But, we all know that the ONLY reason to have a BD drive in a computer is PIRACY!!!! No one needs it for anything else, right? Riiiiiiigh!

The standards for 4K BD are not "in the wild" yet. Supposedly the licensing only started a few months ago, and it will be the end of this year before anything ships, hardware or disks.

I would expect it to take years to decipher the code, and we thought Cinavia was a royal pain, one can bet they got some new tricks in the new format.

Sorry, but ripping my OWN legally purchased BluRays isn't piracy or illegal. This is a big lie from the content mafia and from corrupt politician!

No one can dictate to me what I do with my computer, as long as I pity anyone!

But you're right with:

Since you're circumventing a cop protection, it actually is in most countries.
