I've got a lot of unencrypted ISOs on a network drive that I mount with Virtual Clone Drive. I've been converting them so I can watch with VLC. I can convert Blu-Rays from there without trouble. But the several HD-DVDs I've tried all fail within approximately 30 seconds of clicking Make MKV button with:

Please consider turning on the debugging messages in the preferences, and try to scan again, and post that log.

The mounted ISO does play in an ancient version of PowerDVD.

looks like a very broken ISO. Please try:
1 - opening the ISO file itself instead of mounted image from MakeMKV (file->Open)
2 - if (1) fails, try extracting all files from ISO to a folder and open the files with MakeMKV.

I'll give it a shot.

This happens with all HD-DVDs backups I've tried so far, so perhaps something hosed about the way they were created. Though, they do play fine in old version of Power-DVD.

Why would this play in Power DVD and not convert with MKV?

Are there alternatives?

The EVO files are encrypted but AACS directory not present, plus few MAP files are missing. This is a very damaged rip - you'll have to use the original disc.

Well, the files are NOT encrypted. They play fine in Power DVD 7.

Maybe they are not, but they surely are marked as encrypted.

Is this set in a header somewhere? Might I be able to hex-edit the ISO to clear that tag?
