audio is only 2.0

Post by peteyx »

I have well over 100 DVD files on my HTPC. All of the Blu-ray files show up in XBMC as 5.1 or 7.1 audio. Virtually all of the standard def DVD files (the majority) show up as 2.0 audio, even though I have selected 3/2.1 or whatever the best audio option may be. What am I doing wrong?

How about posting a MediaInfo report from a file that you know you selected the 3/2.1 audio and only shows as 2.0.

That's not a file generated by MakeMKV - it's been processed by something to (a) compress it to a smaller size, and (b) convert it to an MP4 container.

A 2-hour MKV file, fresh from the ripping, will be 6.5 to 8 GB for a DVD, and MUCH larger for an BD.

Um, let's see. He's using one of the WinX conversion programs and it's set it to down-convert all AC3 tracks to 2/0 AAC so he needs someone to tell him how to get it to leave it as surround sound... or something...
