External Blu-ray Drive Unrecognized

The software is failing to recognize my external Asus BD drive:

My internal drive doesn't work anymore, but it's recognized without a problem.

The ASUS drive I need to use is connected via USB, and if I dig into the details, it's listed as:
\Device\00000180

Might be worth noting it is also a Blu-ray burner.

Is the software just scanning for \Device\CdRom*? How does it go about detecting a device, and what info should I provide you guys with so that you can diagnose the problem further?

What happens if you reboot? Will it become \Device\00000180 again, or will it become visible?

Thanks! To my surprise, restarting did actually fix the problem. Now I feel like a bit of an idiot.

Anyway, what's the reasoning behind it being unable to find and access the drive when it wasn't plugged in at boot? Is it a problem that people have never really encountered/reported? Or a marginal enough problem that it was never really worth working on, since restarting fixes it?

As someone who only owns a laptop, my Blu-ray drive is only plugged in when I'm using it. It'll be quite rare that I'd turn on my computer and have it connected.

PS: Sorry admin if I double-posted my thread! Didn't realize my post had to be approved first.

It was actually a bug in MakeMKV that showed up very rarely. Will be fixed in the next version.
